JENNA BONOMI - 2024 Fund A Teacher Recipient
October 2024
Dear Alpha Beta Foundation,
My name is Jenna Bonomi, and I am a first-year teacher at Myra S.
Barnes I.S.24. I am honored to have been nominated for your Fund A Teacher program by April Angarola. This year I am the general education teacher in an ICT classroom for 6th grade science to 5 different classes. I am incredibly grateful to have been awarded the Fund A Teacher stipend to help me be better prepared and my students well equipped.
Thanks to the generous stipend of Delta Kappa Gamma, I have been able to use the funds to purchase the essentials like pencils (we all know students go through them like candy), paper clips, folders, chart paper, printer ink and paper! I was also able to buy a laminator to help ensure that class sets of copies go a long way and are able to be reused and decorate our classroom. These are all supplies that some of my students and their families aren’t able to get a hold of themselves.

Access to these supplies boosted moral greatly the first week of school as all students had the necessary materials. I was also able to use some of the stipend to create an classroom environment that was colorful, comfortable, and inspired learning. In public school buildings, the spirit is built through the students and community, but the building itself is bland and boring. I was able to brighten up the room and create a space that encouraged learning and discovery through science.
As a first-year teacher, I was very discouraged looking at how much stuff I needed and how little I could afford myself, but the generous stipend helped to support me through a difficult transition and set me up for success for the rest of my career.
My Science Classroom and Lab would not be the same without the
generous support of the Alpha Beta Chapter. We appreciate everything that they have done to help us establish our classroom community.
With deepest gratitude,
Jenna Bonomi
