Izza Qureshi 2022 $2000 Dr. Mary Meade Scholarship

Dear Alpha Beta Foundation,
It has been a lifelong dream of mine to be an educator. I have grown in an environment where being able to teach others was a gift and something to cherish. I was fortunate to have a role model who shared her passion of teaching with me. My role model, my mother, showed me what is was like to truly love what you do in life. My mother was a teacher back in our home country, Pakistan. However, she did not have the opportunity to continue teaching once she immigrated to America. My father was uneducated and had no way to financially support himself through a college education. Combined, they both stressed the importance of receiving an education and doing something good with what I learn.
Being the recipient of the 2022 Dr. Mary Meade Scholarship has opened up a world of opportunities for me. I am extremely grateful to have been given such a gift. The Alpha Beta Foundation has introduced me to so many more role models and I am thankful to have met so many inspiring people.
I am especially thankful for the Dr. Mary Meade Scholarship for easing some of my worries about college. With this scholarship money, I was able to pay the college costs that were left after I received aid without worrying how I was going to afford it. I was able to purchase textbooks and cover commuting costs.
I truly appreciate this scholarship and am thankful for all the ways it has helped me and will continue to help me. I hope that one day I will be a role model as inspiring as the members of the Alpha Beta Foundation and I hope I will be able to help others find their passions in life.
