NOW TEACHING AT TOTTENVILLE HS

Dear Alpha Beta Chapter,
Ever since I was a little girl, I knew I wanted to become an educator. I would tutor my friends and feel such deep satisfaction when they became successful with a topic. Their victories were my victories. When I entered high school, my desire to teach grew even stronger. After talking to my guidance counselor about my goal, she suggested I apply for the Dr. Mary Meade Scholarship. In 2007, I became the proud recipient of the award.
This scholarship meant a lot to me not only due to its monetary value but, more importantly, because earning it showed me that there was a group of women who believed in my dream and were willing to help me succeed.
After getting my first job as a teacher, the same guidance counselor allowed me to join the Alpha Beta Chapter. It has been such an honor to sit alongside seasoned educators that still have a passion for teaching. I love listening to them as they share their experiences, lessons learned, and a few funny stories now and then. The women in the chapter have become my mentors and continue to support me as I grow as an educator. As a scholarship recipient and new teacher, I cannot emphasize enough how helpful this organization has been to my teaching career.
Sincerely,
Rachel Mancini
