Dear Alpha Beta Foundation,

My name is Kayla Forminio and I am honored to be the recipient of the 2019 Dr. Mary Meade Scholarship presented by Alpha Beta Foundation. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your consideration and generosity in helping me to pursue my academic and professional dreams by awarding me this scholarship. I am also thankful for my guidance counselor, Mrs. Shapiro, who is also a member of the Alpha Beta Chapter, for nominating me and encouraging me to do partake in this wonderful scholarship opportunity.

Ever since I can remember, I aspired to become a teacher. After school, I enjoyed coming home to my room that I had designed to be a classroom and teaching my stuffed animals the lessons that I had learned that day. My favorite thing was when my Aunt Karen would occasionally bring me big bags of her old teaching supplies, including textbooks, expo markers, and colorful learning posters. My love and passion for teaching STEM from my personal relationships with my teachers throughout my years of learning. My teachers have left a tremendous impact on me, both academically and personally, and they have always guided me in the right path. I seek to leave that same impact on others.

This upcoming year, I will be attending the Verrazano Program at the College of Staten Island. I am looking forward to pursuing my studies in Adolescent English Education. This scholarship will play a major role in my studies, as I am putting it towards a MacBook Air Computer. This item is a necessity for me because I do not own a computer and I need one for completing my assignments, doing research, and accessing my school email.  The excess money will be put towards textbooks of my very own, as education books can be costly. By providing me with this gift, I can focus directly on my educations and take the necessary steps to become a successful teacher.

Thank you very much again.

                                                                                                          Sincerely,

                                                                                                          Kayla Forminio
