Dear Alpha Beta Foundation,

​

Thank you to the Alpha Beta chapter for your support. I am honored to be the recipient of the 2023 Dr. Mary Meade Scholarship which has helped me pay for my laboratory dues, books, and parking fees. 

 

I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher and my love for teaching was shown very early on as I would imitate my teachers' lessons in my basement which was set up as a classroom each time one of my friends would come over. However, I would say that it was the teachers in my life that really pushed me to follow my passion. My mom was a very supportive influence in my life, teaching me the importance of a good education. As an educator herself, my mom always tried to make learning a fun, positive, and engaging experience. My elementary teachers also saw the passion I had for mentoring other students which in turn gave me the opportunity to be a lunch monitor for younger students. After I spent countless lunch periods with the students, I realized that I learned from them just as much as they learned from me. Lastly, my older sister, who was my inspiration growing up, is currently in her second year as a Kindergarten teacher. Even on challenging days, she emphasizes that seeing children progress is very rewarding and gratifying. 

 

Throughout the next four years, as I pursue a degree in early childhood education, I will make sure to immerse myself in all aspects of college life. From kindergarten all the way to my very last day of high school I always enjoyed learning new things and hope that one day as a teacher I can help young children grow to love learning. I have worked hard to be where I am, but I will forever be thankful for the help and generosity of Alpha Beta. 

 

Thank you to all once again for seeing the potential in my future as an educator.
